OMG!! I so just want to lose fat!! I've been trying forever and ever and I just can't lose the cottage cheese bulges from my stomach, hips, butt and legs! How can I lose this stubborn fat? ARGH!!!
You are not alone, many are frustrated with the same issue. There are so many factors as to why one is not losing body fat. Calories in vs Calories out, Physical Activity choices, Stress, on and on the list goes. But let's go deeper than that. It has been my experience that those who say they have been TRYING for years and years with no luck, need to really sit down with a Lifestyle Fitness Coach and re-evaluate what the have been TRYING to do. First let's take a look at the word TRY. It screams passivity! Now before you throw your hands up and get defensive hear me out. You know we've all said "I'll try" or "I've tried everything" but have never found success. The word TRY can be defined as "make an effort or to attempt" it absolutely does not mean TO SUCCEED!! Think about how we use the word TRY. It is like saying "oh I'll make an effort" or "okay I'll attempt to do that" it does not say "I'm going to make this work" or "Hell, yes, I will succeed at that!" C'mon words have power. If you say you will never lose weight, well ya, you never will! This isn't some new age mumble jumble. If you repeatedly tell yourself the same negative thoughts, how can you ever expect a positive outcome? So start by changing your thought patterns around your body and your experiences. Change your self talk and seriously commit to your health. Commitment, ah yes, my second point. How long have you actually committed to changing your body? Three days? Two weeks? Six months? We need to be looking at health and fitness as a life long pursuit not as a destination or event. We need to get to the roots of the issues that are keeping you from succeeding in order to get you to succeed. So listen, I could go on forever, so if you are ready, seriously ready to give up on the yo-yo dieting, fitness fad merry go around, then we are the right professionals for you. Ready to dig in and MAKE the change rather than TRY?? Excellent then click here to contact us and learn how to get started.
What are a
couple quick tips for lifting weights?
Couple of quick tips, eh?
Well, the main thing is always, always, always proper
posture and form first. Never sacrifice your posture
and form for heavier weights. Choosing not to utilize
proper posture and form can lead to major muscle and
skeletal injuries. Remember quality before quantity.
All your movements should be performed with a strict
controlled, smooth motion. Practice with light weights
and get the form down first before attempting heavier
weights or increasing tempo.
What is Yoga?
The meaning of Yoga is union or
yoking, from the Sanskrit root yuj, to unite.
The Indian Sage Patanjali is believed to have collected
ancient yogic texts and combined them into the Yoga Sutras
an estimated 2,000 years ago. This collection serves
as a philosophical guidebook for most of the Yoga that is
practiced today. It also outlines eight limbs of Yoga;
the yamas (restraints), niyamas (observances),
asana (postures), pranayama (breathing),
pratyahara (withdrawal of senses), dharana
(concentration), dhyani (mediation), and samadhi
(absorption). Today most people practicing Yoga are
engaged in the third limb, asana, which is a program
of physical postures designed to purify the body and provide
physical strength and stamina. Yoga is a powerful way
to relieve stress, improve and maintain your health.
There is so
much conflicting information out there. What do I
really need to know to start an exercise program and lose
weight?
To cut to the chase and sum it
all up, you must EAT to fuel your body to get through
the day, you must BREATHE to give your body oxygen
the life giver to every cell in your body, and you must
MOVE to keep your muscles active or it will waste away
and lead to health risks, including more body fat. If
you want to lose body fat you need to use your body
to lose the fat. Use it to lose it, baby!!
I think my
eating is okay. How do I know for sure?
Well, if your asking, then
chances are you need to take a good look at what you are
consuming and what nutritional intake you are actually
getting. The best way is to log what you are actually
consuming, and be honest about it! You can't change
what you don't acknowledge!! Do you lack energy?
Take naps during the day? Get a little grumpy between
