The most amazing thing happened to me on the 16th of May 2006! Realizing that I was overweight and extremely "unfit", I engaged Catherine Stubbington as my personal trainer. At first, I just enjoyed telling everyone that I had a personal trainer....Then, something happened....I started to feel great, I had more energy, and my strength increased

 

When I started on the 16th of May, I could barely do the step fitness test. I think I could only do step-ups for 30 seconds. And....those push-ups. Yuk!!! I think I could only do half a push-up. But, Catherine persevered with me, encouraged me, worked with me, and "pushed" me into doing more than I ever thought I could do.

 

With Catherine's expertise and encouragement, I actually jogged around Garry Point in Steveston, (about 3k). And by the 17th of August, my fitness level increased to "Good" from the "very poor" on the 16th of May. A 203% increase in overall muscular endurance in just 12 weeks!!!!! Catherine has performed a miracle with this 57 year-old grandmother from Steveston.

I can't believe how much fun doing weights is! Before starting with Catherine, I had worked out for years but never had any success with strength training. I tried a couple of times and just found weights boring, repetitive and not as effective as doing cardio.

 

Not anymore. Since working with Catherine, I've discovered that not only is strength training a lot of fun, it's more interesting than I though. And more importantly, it gets you results faster than just doing cardio alone.

 

Up until working with Catherine, all I ever did was run. Running is a great exercise but too much of anything is not good and I needed balance. I needed a change. And I also had some goals that running couldn't accomplish, like overall toning, becoming leaner and acquiring muscle definition.

 

Well, after only two months of meeting Catherine only twice a week for as little as 30 minutes at a time, family members have commented on how toned I look, how fit I am... and what am I doing differently?

 

Catherine is what's different. It's her knowledge and personal attention that stand out. She goes out of her way to customize programs to specifically suit me - keep me challenged and yes, entertained. One of my major goals was for her to not only teach me how to properly strength train but somehow teach me how to enjoy it so that I would stick with it for the long haul and not always need her.

 

So the biggest compliment I can say about her is that she is already 'weaning' me off her. You'd think it would be to a trainer's advantage to make themselves indispensable but not so with Catherine. Her goal is for me to meet my goals and she tells me that I'm well on my way.

 

What more could you ask for from a trainer!? Caring with results! Thanks Catherine! But don't think you can get rid of me too soon! I'm having too much fun!

Catherine is amazing! I have a busy thriving practice and my time is very important to me. After years of trying to work out on my own, I have learned that personal training is the only way for me to exercise consistently and safely. I’ve worked with several trainers before; Catherine is one of the best! Her knowledge and expertise allows me to train in the most efficient way possible: I get the maximum benefit and quickest results in the least amount of time. That’s the way I like to exercise and to live my life!

Catherine is thorough and creative...she has designed programs that fit my schedule, that I can and will do, and that keep my interest piqued. When an injury could have sidelined me, she worked with my chiropractor to ensure my safety and fitness goals were maintained. From the very first yoga class I took with Catherine I knew without any doubt that I had come home. Catherine is that kind of teacher. She is passionate and sincere and teaches yoga with a purity of intention which I am sure resonates in the hearts of her students.

 

I am sixty-three years old and wanted to become fit after I had injured my back. Catherine listened, observed, took notes, and prescribed a perfect set of exercises for me. Catherine is extremely knowledgeable about the body and has a very healing touch. Her explanations are clear. She is patient and encouraging. I started working with Catherine in October 2005 and have felt great ever since. When we first started working together I was not working out at all and now I average about 4-5 times a week. I never thought I would ever say this, but I enjoy going to the gym now.

 

At the beginning I was in poor physical condition and have improved dramatically, my body feels stronger and I have seen physical changes that I am very happy with.

 

I love the way Catherine works with me. She seems to know exactly what I need and when I need it. When there was high stress in my life, we started doing yoga, and when I was angry the boxing gloves came out! These are just a couple of examples of how intuitive Catherine is to peoples needs. I couldn't ask for a better trainer than Catherine, she just has to look at me and know what it is I need for the day (even though I try to hide it sometimes, she sees right through it).

 

At times I ignore the way my body is feeling and Catherine is quick to remind me that I have to honour my body and what it is telling me. That is not that easy to do sometimes but it is definitely a necessity.

 

I cant' say enough good things about Catherine. I send my logbook every Sunday and I know that she sits down and reads it and will change my program if she or I don't feel it's working for me. That takes a lot of time and effort on her part. The personal training isn't just in the gym but when she goes home at night she's still working on you!

 

I love that Catherine has taught me to honour my body and my feelings (something I have yet to fully accomplish but have made great strides in). The fact that Catherine believes so many different aspects of fitness and her vast knowledge of the body, mind and spirit really compliment each other.

 

On a personal note, I think Catherine is awesome. She is not just my "personal trainer" but a good friend. She is so intuitive and so caring. Sometimes she does what no one likes to do, and that is tell you the truth. Even when you don't want to hear it, there is no tip toeing around with Catherine. She is honest and considerate with my feelings and always there to help when needed. I can never thank you enough Catherine for all that you have done for me and continue to do. You are truly a wonderful person!

About five months ago I began to work with Catherine, after being encouraged by a friend to give her a call. All I can say is that she is truly fantastic!

For two years I lived with chronic pain in my right shoulder. I went through everything from vioxx, x-rays, physiotherapy, a homeopathic pharmacist, an orthopedic surgeon, a cortisone injection, a pilates consultation and an even larger does of vioxx, to no avail.

I called Catherine to see if she would be interested in coming to my home to start a therapy program to correct my shoulder problem. She cheerfully and willingly started an aggressive personal training program with me and simply put, the program has worked wonders. Without Catherine, I know that I would still be using my left hand to support my right arm for such a simple task as eating.

Twice a week, Catherine has come to my home in the evening. Regardless of the day she has had she insists that I stick to a regimen that will ensure that everything that can be done for me will be done for me. Her carefully planned professional program makes me look forward to each and every session even if I have had a trying or stressful day. Her genuine dedication to my personal well beings is evident by her work ethic and the extra time she has so willingly given me.

I have struggled with chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain for the past 15 years. Injuries from gymnastics and skiing as a youth likely contributed to the more intense problems I developed when a series of small whiplashes from MVA’s left me unable to function for several weeks. Over the years, I tried physiotherapy, massage therapy and chiropractic therapy, all with various degrees of success, but never long-lasting results.

Catherine suggested I try Thai massage. It has made a tremendous difference to my well-being. After the first massage, I felt relief immediately! In addition I had a flexibility and range of motion in my neck and shoulders that I have not experienced for years. It’s been a long time since I could actually do a shoulder check while driving that did not require me turning my whole body!

The thing I have enjoyed the most about the Thai massage is the abundance of energy I have and how that lasts for several days after the massage. I immediately treated my husband to one and referred all my colleagues to Catherine for Thai massage. Catherine’s mobile service makes it easy to take good care of myself.
